Nella vita può succedere di tutto, anche le cose più impossibili come quando una organizzazione professionista americana nel baseball come i Dallas Patriots si interessi ai Tritons Taranto, soltanto un sogno che invece diventa realtà. Tutto nasce dall'amicizia tra il Presidente Antonio Maggio e
Mr. Giuseppe Piccinini, italiano che vive a Frisco in Texas, un imprenditore nel settore informatico ed immobiliare. Una amicizia nata su Facebook sullo sfondo la grande passione per il baseball e per il Sud Italia sfociata poi nel l'incontro a Nettuno durante la permanenza di Antonio Maggio con la Nazionale Under12 e le concomitanti vacanze italiane della famiglia Piccinini.
Uno scambio di informazione sulle reciproche realtà, ovviamente diametralmente opposte. Il figlio di Giuseppe, il piccolo Luca classe 2004 gioca nei Dallas Patriots in una organizzazione pazzesca, dove i ragazzi vengono formati in maniera meticolosa e professionale, di contro invece l'esperienza dei Tritons Taranto che si autofinanziano e che non hanno un campo dove giocare, dei bambini reclutati nelle scuole o nelle parrocchie spesso anche impossibilitati a comprarsi un guanto da baseball e quindi costretti ad usare guanti vecchi o mazze di 20 anni fa. Ha colpito la passione con cui a Taranto inseguiamo la nostra passione e sogno nonostante le difficoltà.
La generosa comunità texana su invito di Giuseppe Piccinini ha pensato bene di fare un grande regalo ai Tritons, una raccolta di materiale tecnico per attività giovanile da spedire a Taranto, in breve tempo una pedana è occupata da guantoni, mazze, attrezzature da catcher, scarpe e divise dei Dallas Patriots sono partite via mare dagli USA in direzione Taranto. Le giovanili dei Tritons vestiranno nei campionati le divise dei Dallas Patriots suggellando questa collaborazione e amicizia.
Visto l'enorme regalo ricevuto, il grande cuore dimostrato nel sostenere una spedizione onerosa come questa il Consiglio Direttivo della ASD Tritons Taranto Baseball Softball ha proposto ai propri associati di nominare Giuseppe Piccinini PRESIDENTE ONORARIO, per il grande sostegno alla causa del baseball a Taranto, incassando il benestare incondizionato e unitario.
Questa collaborazione continuerà anche negli anni a venire, infatti sono stati avviati già dei progetti che già potrebbero essere realizzati nel breve periodo, per ora rimane questo grande piccolo segnale di Speranza e l'orgoglio per i Tritons Taranto di far conoscere la Città anche oltreoceano

The Taranto Tritons and the American Dream….
In life anything can happen, even the most impossible things like when an American baseball organization from Dallas called the Dallas Patriots decided to show support for an unknown baseball club called the Taranto Tritons. Only a dream but it would turn out to be a reality. It all started from the friendship of the President of the Taranto Tritons Antonio Maggio and Mr. Giuseppe Piccinini an Italian entrepreneur that now lives in Frisco Texas. A friendship that started on Facebook from the love of baseball and Southern Italy where Mr. Piccinini was born. The two finally met this summer in person in Nettuno, Italy while Mr. Maggio was coaching the 12U Italian team and while the Piccinini family was on their vacation in Italy.
An exchange of information and interests while living opposite worlds. Mr. Piccinini son Luca class of 2004 plays with the Dallas Patriots, an amazing state of the art organization where boys learn the meaning of professional baseball at an early age, in contrast to the Taranto Tritons a self-funded ground roots organization without a field or the even the equipment to properly play the game. The boys and girls come from low income schools and parishes and do not have the means to purchase not even a glove and therefore forced to use passed down equipment like gloves and bats that are often 20 years old. What impressed Mr. Piccinini and the Dallas Patriots was the passion for the game the Taranto and the willing to learn and play the game regardless of the challenges the Taranto Tritons showed.
As a result the generosity of the Texan community at the solicitation of Mr. Piccinini thought it would rewarding to send a gift of little league baseball equipment to Taranto. In a short amount of time a pallet with boxes filled with gloves, bats, helmets, catchers gear, shoes and Dallas Patriots t-shirts left the USA for Taranto, Italy. It will give the little league boys in Taranto a jersey to wear – as they will begin to wear Dallas Patriots t-shirts as their jersey in games around Italy to show the friendship and appreciation and equipment to play the game and showcase their American friends.
As a token of gratitude for the huge gift and the big hearts showing support without having much to offer the Dallas Patriots in return the ASD Taranto Baseball Softball club has proposed to make Mr. Giuseppe Piccinini President ad Honorem for his support toward Italian baseball and the boys of Southern Italy.
We hope this collaboration and friendship will last years as other projects are in the plans to grow the Taranto Baseball club. For now hope and pride is sufficient to the Taranto Tritons boys as they know their club and city is now known overseas by the Dallas Patriots family.
